Our most popular ghyll scramble and canyon, this incredible destination has it all. Situated right in the heart of Coniston, this makes it the perfect location for anyone staying in our nearby to Coniston Village.
We will begin by scrambling our way up this rocky mountain river, tackling pools, scrambling and rock jumps on the way.
We will then, group dependant, make our way to the top of the 'upper canyon' and tackle the exciting rock jumps and slides that have made this venue so famous!
Your expert instructor will make sure that your session is tailored appropriately to the age and ability of the group. There is something for everyone in this ghyll!
Suitable for: Age 8+ (The upper canyon is suitable for 14+)

StickleGhyll scramble
The best option for those families with children or for those of mixed ability. Winding its way up the Lake Districts most beautiful valley (Langdale) this ghyll is an incredible place to see, and even more incredible to ascend.
We will begin by scrambling our way up this rocky mountain river, where the difficulty and obstacles can be varied depending on the ability of the group. We can expect to find rocky scrambles, small waterfalls, and deep, crystal clear pools. The crown jewel, for those who dare, is the roped waterfall climb.
Your expert instructor will make sure that your session is tailored appropriately to the age and ability of the group. There is something for everyone in this ghyll!

What do I need?
Upon booking you will receive a kit list and itinerary for your activity, but in short:

Swimsuit/clothes to wear under your wetsuit

A pair of shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings to wear OVER your wetsuit.

Sturdy Shoes you can get wet

Towel and change of clothes

Water if it is a hot day
How will the activity work?
Once you have met your friendly instructor they will issue you with a clean and well fitting wetsuit and neoprene socks for you to change in to. Remember, not all of our venues have changing facilities, so be sure to check that you are happy with the facilities before you book.
Once you are changed and ready to go we will walk the short distance to the start of the ghyll.
Your instructor will make sure you have all the information you need to have a safe and exciting adventure.
